Abbott’s Women in STEM Creates Children’s Book

Abbott ranked No. 3 on The Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list in 2022.

Abbott’s Women in STEM employee network has created a children’s book to introduce young people to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The book “What Does STEM Look Like?” aims to encourage children to pursue a career in STEM.

In the book, readers follow Anna’s journey as she discovers how her interests in animals, art and space can lead to professions in STEM fields such as biology, geometry or astronomy.

“Dear Reader, have you ever gazed at the night sky and wondered where our universe comes from, or what is out there? Have you ever heard of STEM or envisioned what a person in STEM looks like?” says the book’s foreword. “We hope this inspires you and others to realize anyone could be in STEM.”

Women in STEM created the children’s book to help break the stigma on what STEM workers look like, as well as what they can do.

Abbott’s Women in STEM network elevates women pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics through career development, community outreach and networking. Members of the group hope to inspire tomorrow’s problem solvers.
