Jefferson Health on Building a Sustainable DEI Framework

Lisette Martinez, Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer at Jefferson Health (No. 13 on Fair360’s 2023 Top Hospitals and Health Systems list) is a champion of the power of inclusion.  

In a recent interview with Fair360, Martinez discussed her experience creating and implementing Jefferson Health’s company-wide global DEI strategic plan. She shared important lessons from listening to employees and stakeholders and emphasized the need for accountability. Martinez also discussed the importance of using data to make decisions and provided strategies for maintaining progress.  

Creating a Global DEI Plan

Martinez began her work at Jefferson Health during the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020. Three weeks later, the global outrage following the murder of George Floyd brought attention to the urgent need to address DEI.
