October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, observed in the United States to honor and celebrate the many contributions that people with disabilities make to our workplaces and economy.

Every day at Kaiser Permanente, our diverse workforce contributes to our mission.

We’re proud to be recognized for our leadership in creating a workplace that supports and empowers people with disabilities. For the sixth year in a row, we earned a top-ranking score of 100% on the 2022 Disability Equality Index and we were named a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion. The American Association of People with Disabilities and Disability:IN created the Disability Equality Index to advance the inclusion and equality of people with disabilities; it benchmarks companies based on culture, leadership, accessibility, employment practices, community engagement and supplier diversity.

Communities Within Our Community

One of the many ways we create an inclusive work environment is through our 10 business resource groups, including KPability, a group for employees and physicians with disabilities and their advocates.

KPability provides leadership and advocacy in ensuring:

  • People with disabilities are welcomed and represented at all levels of the organization
  • Kaiser Permanente delivers health care that maximizes self-determination and independence for people with disabilities in the communities we serve
