Northwell Health Partners Engages Partners to Boost Mental Health Awareness

Northwell Health has partnered with Splashes of Hope and the New York Islanders Children’s Foundation to raise mental health awareness at South Oaks Hospital.

South Oaks staff helped design four bespoke window scenes, two hand-painted ceiling tiles and a border declaring “Hope Grows Here.” The artwork was created and installed to shift the hospital from “clinical to colorful,” helping inspire optimistic attitudes.

“At South Oaks Hospital we treat the whole patient and understand that those in need of behavioral health care represent every group — they’re our family members, friends, colleagues and neighbors,” said Michael Scarpelli, Executive Director of South Oaks Hospital. “Artwork like this is an integral part in the recovery of our patients, as it gives them hope while they are in our care. I am extremely grateful to Splashes of Hope and the New York Islanders Children’s Foundation for their time, dedication and effort to making paintings come to life.”

Splashes of Hope and the New York Islanders Children’s Foundation collaborated to make the creation and donation of the paintings possible.
