TIAA Preps HBCU Students for Tech Careers

TIAA ranked No. 8 on The Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list in 2022.

TIAA has partnered with the National Cybersecurity Alliance to sponsor its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Career Program.

Through online mentoring sessions and events on campuses, the program helps HBCU students prepare for jobs in the security, privacy and risk fields. The program aims to close the racial gap in cybersecurity industry.

“Knowing that African Americans make up only nine percent of the cyber workforce, TIAA is proud to team up with the National Cybersecurity Alliance and HBCUs to prepare the next generation of tech talent,” said Upendra Mardikar, TIAA Chief Information Security Officer. “Diverse perspectives and experiences improve innovation and problem-solving. Building a more inclusive, more innovative pipeline of graduates creates better outcomes for our collective future.”

As a sponsor, the company will host panels featuring industry experts and mock interviews for students at HBCUs such as Winston-Salem State University, Bennett College, North Carolina Central University, Fayetteville State University, Claflin University and South Carolina State University.
