Chief Communications Officer at Fair360

Head of Client Engagement at Fair360

Director of Reporting and Analytics at Fair360
Fair360’s January 22 webinar was an “office hours with the experts” format where Chad Johnson, Head of Client Engagement, and Erik Moyer, Director of Reporting and Analytics, took time to explain the 2025 Top Companies survey and answer audience questions.
Why Take the 2025 Top 50 Survey?
Johnson began the session by highlighting the reasons companies should take the survey. The main reasons are:
- To benchmark your company’s inclusive workplace strategy against hundreds of others.
- Identify your organization’s strengths and opportunities to improve workplace programs and build a connected culture.
- Assessment: Provide external validation of your organization’s strengths and opportunities. This will help Chief Inclusion Officers build support for their work.
In addition to these benefits, survey participants will also receive a free 10- page report card that “calculates the value of your inclusive workplace initiatives and the cost of improving them to be best-in-class,” Johnson said. View a sample report card here.
Changes and Improvements
Johnson also highlighted the changes and improvements to the 2025 survey:
- 130 required questions (down from 178)
- Questions about executive compensation removed
- Simplified Supplier Diversity section
- Use of the word “fair” reduced throughout the survey (based on participant feedback)
- National Organization on Disability’s Disability Employment Tracker (now the Disability Inclusion Blueprint) – completion is encouraged but not required. It will not impact your ranking.
- Optional Philanthropy section: No Philanthropy or Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) specialty lists this year.
Emphasis of 5 Key Initiatives
In 2025, we’re focusing on 5 key initiatives:
- Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
- Mentorship
- Sponsorship
- High Potentials
- Executive Diversity Councils
“What our organization has found over three decades is that organizations that implement these five areas have very strong rankings and have done well with their human capital retention and engagement in the workforce,” Johnson said. “And so we’ve put a lot stronger emphasis on these five areas.”
Benchmarking Deep Dive
For those companies who purchase a Benchmarking Report, you will receive a deeper look into your inclusion efforts. The report will monetize the value of your inclusive workplace, paired with personalized advice on where your company will see the best return on investment.
With a Benchmarking Report, you’ll get:
- Comparisons of your voluntary turnover and replacement costs with top-performing companies
- Analysis of the five key initiatives compared with top performers
- Visualization of where programs, promotions, new hires and retention are less representative than top performers and/or your industry
- Recommendations on what has been proven to work based on 10 years of data from hundreds of companies
- Presentation by a senior leader who will conduct up to two Zoom-based debriefs to discuss opportunities and trends.
