Disturbing surveillance footage of Serge Fournier, an elderly man, being pushed from a bus by Cadesha Bishop was released by Las Vegas Police earlier this week. The incident took place in March of this year. Fournier was pushed after he reportedly asked Bishop to be nicer to the other passengers.
Fournier, who was 74-years old, was seen arguing with Cadesha Bishop on video before she allegedly pushed him off the bus where he landed head first on the paved sidewalk below the bus. He apparently died a few weeks later from his injuries, according to Las Vegas police. Bishop has been arrested and now faces a possible murder charge.
Cadesha Bishop, 25, has two previous arrests for battery.
The video didn’t show anyone offering Serge Fournier any assistance and Bishop didn’t bother to get off the bus to see if the man was all right. Instead, she retreats and sits back down. He eventually stood up but declined treatment on the scene. Fournier went to University Medical Center later that evening.
According to a news report from KSNV-TV in Las Vegas, the elderly man spent the final month of his life going in and out of the hospital. He passed away on April 23rd. Trevor Taylor, a friend of the victim, had nothing but kind things to say about Fournier.
“He was an excellent neighbor. Very nice, religious person,” Taylor tearfully stated. He also expressed that Serge Fournier had been caring for his disabled wife.
Fournier’s death has been ruled a homicide by the Las Vegas coroner’s office. He died from blunt force trauma to his torso. His family notified the police of his death on May 3rd and Cadesha Bishop was taken into police custody on May 6th.
Bishop was charged with open murder and her bond was set at $100,000.
Her two prior incidents of violence yielded virtually no jail time. She was sentenced to counseling for “impulse control” and community service.
Fournier’s insistence of kindness from Bishop was the thing that cost him his life.
