Business Continues To Flee from Trump, Professional Golf Takes No Real Action

The fallout from Donald Trump’s inflammatory remarks calling Mexicans rapists and drug dealers, among other things, has led to more distancing from companies, organizations and individuals — though the professional golf community is distancing itself only just so far.


On Wednesday, Macy’s became the latest company to announce it was severing its relationship with Trump, saying it was removing all Trump-branded merchandise from its stores in response to his comments. A MoveOn.org petition calling on Macy’s to end its relationship with Trump had collected more than 700,000 signatures as of Wednesday morning.

Macy’s decision followed Univision and NBC’s decision to cancel their broadcasts of the upcoming Miss USA pageant, co-owned by Trump, and sever ties with him and the Trump Organization. Others who have pulled out include the pageant’s co-hosts Cheryl Burke and Thomas Roberts, as well as artists Natalie La Rose and Flo Rida, and former Dallas Cowboys star Emmitt Smith, who was to be a judge in the pageant.
