Donald Sterling isn’t the only public figure under fire following the release of a racist recording.
In New Jersey, a local councilwoman has denied that it is her voice that is heard using a racial slur in the background of a voicemail. Marie Strumolo Burke, who is running for mayor of Belleville, a Newark suburb, has said on multiple occasions that it is not her making the comments. “I’m tired of defending myself,” she said last week. “I take offense that I’m [being labeled] a racist.”
