Diversity Leadership: Jimmie Paschall, Wells Fargo

Jimmie Paschall

Executive Vice President and
Head of Enterprise Diversity and Inclusion
Wells Fargo

Jimmie Paschall carved out a name for herself at Marriott International, where the position of Global Diversity Officer was created for her. But when she was recruited by Wells Fargo, she saw the opportunity to have an even bigger impact. More than a third of the bank’s 270,000 employees are from traditionally underrepresented groups and the company is the country’s largest home lender to Blacks, Asians, Latinos and American Indians.

“If you look at what financial institutions can do and the lives being touched by Wells Fargo, there are lots of places where diversity and inclusion can play a role,” Paschall told Fair360, formerly DiversityInc. “The impact feels infinite.” One of Paschall’s passions is tapping the power of Wells Fargo’s many resource groups and diversity councils to achieve company goals. “If we can harness that energy within a strategy, we will have a new level of performance,” she says.

Prior to joining Wells Fargo, where she also serves on the Executive Leadership Council, Paschall was Global Diversity Officer and Senior Vice President of External Affairs at Marriott International, where she oversaw the Marriott Foundation for People With Disabilities. She is a former Executive Vice President of External Affairs at Volunteers of America, a national service organization, and has held leadership posts in human resources and internal communications with Sodexo and Host Marriott Services Corporation (now HMSHost Corporation).

Paschall grew up in Macon, Ga., and earned her bachelor’s degree from Howard University in 1983. She is a member of the Consortium of Chief Diversity Officers at Georgetown University. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her family.
