TD Bank’s Diana Lee Celebrates AAPI Month: Difference is Strength

Diana Lee is the VP of Diversity and Inclusion at TD Bank. TD Bank ranked No. 20 on the Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies list in 2023.

Diana Lee, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at TD Bank, shared her experience of embracing her identity in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.

As a Korean Canadian, Lee noticed difficulty building career-enhancing connections for those that came from different backgrounds due to a lack of common ground. These experiences sparked her interest in diversity and inclusion and helped her understand how crucial it is to foster healthy work cultures and fair opportunities.

“Difference is strength. Because of my experiences, I can better empathize with others, adapt to different environments and persevere through challenge. Teams that reflect difference and diversity are more innovative, provoking greater thought in each other and demonstrating stronger decision-making as a collective,” Lee said.

TD Bank has a number of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to help cultivate a sense of belonging for employees and drive action at the company. They not only help create a community, but also are at the heart of DEI work.

“I’m grateful that over time, I learned to embrace all dimensions of my identity and myself as an individual,” Lee said. “If we invite difference and are open to learn from it, we will all be better for it. We’re all individuals, and that’s a wonderful thing.”
