Companies Respond to Vile Behavior of Trump Supporters Shown in Cellphone Videos

Following the presidential election, bystanders have been filming incidents where adamant supporters of President-elect Donald Trump have infringed upon the rights of others during every day activities like getting a cup of coffee or even during an airline flight.Because the videos have gone viral, the companies involved have had to make public statements or face losing business.

Hey baby! Donald Trump is your president

A Trump supporter who went on a profanity-filled rant during a Delta Air Lines flight on November 22 has been banned from the airline for life.

“This individual displayed behavior that was loud, rude and disrespectful to his fellow customers,” Delta’s CEO Edward H. Bastian wrote in a memo published Monday. “He will never again be allowed on a Delta plane.”

A Facebook video went viral that captured the man, who is unnamed, standing up on a flight from Atlanta, Georgia, headed to Allentown, Pennsylvania, and sounding off:

“We’ve got some Hillary Clinton b**ches on here” he said.

“Hey baby! Donald Trump is your president. Every god*amn one of yous. If you don’t like it, too bad.”

Delta passengerEmma Baum, 21, recorded the video. Baum told The Morning Call that before the flight took off she spoke with the man. She lives abroad and asked him about the presidential election. He then jumped out of his seat to talk to her. Baum told him she was going to record him with her cellphone.

“He said, ‘Go ahead! I want to tell everyone about Trump. I hope it goes viral,'” she said.

Baum also said that before boarding the flight, he shouted in the airport terminal several times that Trump would “make America great again.”

The man was briefly removed from the plane but then allowed back on the flight before it took off, Baum said. When the plane landed, she said she reported him to the authorities.

After much criticism on social media, Bastian also commented in the memo published on Delta’s website why the staff did not permanently remove the man from the aircraft:

“After questioning the customer, our team members made the best decision they could given the information they had and allowed him to remain on the flight. However, if our colleagues had witnessed firsthand what was shown in the video, there is no question they would have removed him from the aircraft.”

Delta issued a statement on Saturday, which said, “This customer should not have been allowed to continue on the flight.”

Monday’s memo also stated that the company is refunding each passenger on that flight the full price of their tickets.

Yes, I voted for Trump, so there

On Thanksgiving eve, a Black employee at a Michael’s arts and crafts store in Chicago asked customer Jennifer Boyle if she would like to purchase a $1 reusable bag. Boyle went on a racist rant proclaiming she had voted for Trump and demanded special treatment.

Jessie Grady, another Michael’s customer who filmed the video, told The Patch that Boyle went on a “30-minute racist rant complete with yelling and cursing and repeated references to the fact that both employees were African American.”

Michael’s issued a statement of support for the workers insulted:

“At Michael’s, we do not tolerate discrimination or racism of any kind against our team members or customers. We regret that our customers and team members were affected by this unfortunate incident and are grateful for the leadership of our store team in working to resolve it without further escalation.”

Boyle said in the video that the employee was trying to “force me” into buying a reusable bag for her larger items.

“Yes, I voted for Trump, so there. You want to kick me out because of that And look who won,” Boyle said.

She said she was being discriminated against because she is white.

“You want to discriminate against me” she said.

When she eventually walked away from the counter, she saw Grady filming her.

“I don’t know what you think you’re filming, lady,” Boyle said. “I was discriminated against by two Black ladies. And you being a white woman, you literally being a white woman, you standing there with your baby thinking that’s okay.”

The African American store manager approached Boyle, asking her to stop using profanity.

“This woman [the cashier] screamed at me across the god*amn store like an animal you’re an animal I told you as the manager to reprimand Michael is going to hear about this first thing Friday morning,” Boyle said.

Multiple customers called the police during Boyle’s rant.

You’re trash

David Sanguesa, a customer at Starbucks in Coral Gables, Florida, on November 16, accused an employee of color of not wanting to serve him because he is white and voted for Trump. He said his coffee took too long.

“You’re trash,” Sanguesa said to a barista after demanding his money back. “Because I voted for Trump. Trump. You lost. Now give me my money back.”

After asking for his money back, Sanguesa then asks for the barista’s name and contact information before calling her “garbage” and “plain trash.”

Sanguesa and another barista who is behind the counter told him not to “talk to other people in that way.” They then began exchanging words.

“I’m going to punch you out,” he said to the barista.

“Want to step out Fine, I’ll be happy to,” the barista responded.

Sanguesa eventually walks out of the store.

Starbucks gave a canned statement to The Washington Post: “Embracing diversity and treating each other with respect and dignity is core to Starbucks values and something our partners take great pride in showing. We are committed to providing an inclusive, supportive and safe work environment for everyone.”
