Disney Cruise Line Volunteers With Backyard Gardening Project in the Bahamas

Disney Cruise Line team members volunteered to build a backyard garden for the Ranfurly Homes for Children, a nonprofit foster care organization in Nassau, The Bahamas.

Disney Cruise Line partnered with the Agricultural Development Organization (ADO) to launch the new Community Farming project, which supports youth gardening programs across The Bahamas. Volunteers built a shade house and garden beds at the Ranfurly Homes for Children. They planted a variety of vegetables, including peppers, cabbage, and beets, as well as basil and other spices.

Disney also supported the Ranfurly Homes for Children during the holidays with Captain Mickey Mouse and crew distributing gifts and spending time with children.

“Over the last 25 years, Disney Cruise Line has been committed to creating lasting, positive impact in The Bahamas,” said Leslie Lopez, Human Resources Manager, Disney Cruise Line. “Our support of the Community Farming Project is one of the many ways we’re providing the tools and resources to empower and inspire young people in port communities we call home.”
