Eli Lilly Partners With UNICEF to Combat Childhood Noncommunicable Diseases

Eli Lilly and Company ranked No. 5 on the Fair360 2023 Top 50 Companies for Diversity list.

Eli Lilly has partnered with UNICEF to help combat childhood non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Zimbabwe.

NCDs cause the death of almost one million people under 20 each year. Diseases include chronic respiratory disease, cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma and diabetes.

NCDs disproportionately affect people in low- and middle-income countries. While many conditions are treatable, communities often don’t have access to the treatments they need, whether unavailable or unaffordable.

Through the partnership, Lilly and UNICEF aim to educate community health workers and increase support and understanding of NCDs in children in Zimbabwe. In 2022, the partners donated $2.2 million to Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Child Care as part of an ongoing collaboration to support vulnerable communities and advance progress on global health goals.

Lilly has also granted $14.4 million to support UNICEF’s work across pediatric NCDs in five countries: Bangladesh, Malawi, Nepal, the Philippines and Zimbabwe.
