Hilton has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting communities and celebrating diversity for Africa Day 2023, a holiday in May celebrating the continent’s vibrant cultures.
The hotels across the Africa & Indian Ocean region partnered with artists to create installations, supporting their local communities and spotlighting local cultures. Each piece tells a story ranging from African mythology and creativity to using sustainable sourcing and recyclable materials.
Here are some of the collaborations:
- Transcorp Hilton Abuja partnered with Nduwhite Ndubuisi Ahanonu to showcase “The Face,” an installation created from recycled materials collected from the hotel’s garage and workstation.
- Legend Hotel Lagos Airport, Curio Collection by Hilton showcased “Irinola” i.e. Waste-to-wealth, a hybrid metal assemblage made from scrap metal and recycled materials, by Lagos artists Victor Ehikhamenor and Dotun Popoola.
- Hilton Yaoundé collaborated with local handicraft artisans through the Hilton Yaoundé Fair to support local artists whose lives were disrupted by the pandemic.
