Northwell Health’s Kenar Jhaveri Earns American Society of Nephrology Award

Kenar D. Jhaveri, MD, professor of medicine and associate chief in the Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension at Northwell Health, earned the American Society of Nephrology Distinguished Leader Award.

In its fifth year, the Mid-Career Distinguished Leader Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership qualities and outstanding contributions to the field of nephrology.

Dr. Jhaveri has written many publications on cancer and its effect on the kidney and Covid-19-related kidney injury.

“Being a recipient of the ASN Distinguished Leader Award is an incredible honor, and I am immensely grateful to the society for recognizing my contributions to our field,” said Dr. Jhaveri, who is also a faculty member at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. “I am eager to continue my research to better advance treatment and care in the field of nephrology.”

Dr. Jhaveri is the first Northwell Health physician recognized with the award.

Tracey, MD, President and CEO of the Feinstein Institutes and Karches Family Distinguished Chair in Medical Research. “As a highly respected physician-researcher, Dr. Jhaveri’s career work is advancing knowledge which will directly benefit patients with kidney disease.”
