Novartis Collaborates With Six Organizations to Expand Clinical Trial Diversity

Novartis is a Fair360 Top 50 Hall of Fame company.

With the expansion of the Beacon of Hope initiative, Novartis is collaborating with six new organizations to increase diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in clinical trials.

The organizations were selected to provide tools and expertise to empower Historically Black Medical School Centers of Excellence to advance DEI initiatives, research healthcare disparities and address economic and education barriers for students of color in the workforce.

These organizations will provide support in the following ways:

  • Advarra will digitally enable technology and professional services to support clinical trial-site management at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
  • BeeKeeperAI will enable protected algorithms to compute real-world data, within the data steward’s secure HIPAA-compliant environment.
  • Virb will assist with the sourcing and training of clinical trial coordinators and research study staff.
  • Amgen and Alnylam will run clinical trials through the Centers of Excellence, with Alnylam offering a summer fellowship program to train underrepresented students for careers in drug development.
  • Global Black Economic Forum (GBEF) will empower the next generation of diverse leaders in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) while working to address economic disparities.

“We are thrilled to join Beacon of Hope and invest in the next generation of Black STEM leaders,” said Alphonso David, President and CEO of GBEF. “We are committed to advancing economic opportunity across the Black Diaspora, and we are pleased to support the Beacon of Hope scholarship recipients and student mentees with a broad portfolio of impactful programs, which will help equip them with the skills needed to pursue the paths that will drive generational change.”
