UnitedHealth Group Grants $3 Million to Students in Arizona

The United Health Foundation has granted $3 million to Valle del Sol Community Health, helping provide access to healthcare for students in Phoenix, Arizona.

The partnership, which began in 2021, aims to advance health equity for students in underserved communities by providing access to integrated healthcare and communication with health professionals.

Arizona ranks 47th of 50 states for children who have a consistent “medical home” that provides ongoing, comprehensive and non-emergency care, according to the America’s Health Rankings 2022 Health of Women and Children Report. Valle del Sol aims to fill this gap in behavioral health and social services.

“Having the mobile units in our community has made a radical change in access to care,” said Walter Vidal, Marketing and Communications Manager at Valle del Sol. “Being able to reach those who perhaps do not have access to a health system or a health provider nearby and do not have a way of getting to that health care provider has been a complete game changer for us and for the community here in Phoenix.”
