US Bank Donates Home to Afghanistan War Veteran

U.S. Bank ranked No. 11 on the Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list in 2023.

U.S. Bank partnered with Freedom Alliance and True Homes to give an Afghanistan war veteran a mortgage-free home.

U.S. Army Private Second Class Roy Garcia and his family recently received the keys to their new Monroe, North Carolina, home.

In 2008, Garcia enlisted in the Army as an infantryman. Two years later, he and his unit were deployed to Kunar Province, noted as one of the most dangerous locations in Afghanistan at the time.

“Roy Garcia fought in battle and sacrificed for our nation,” said Tom Kilgannon, president of Freedom Alliance. “Like so many combat veterans, he now struggles with the physical and emotional wounds of war, but this home will help him provide for his family and focus on his rehabilitation.”

Freedom Alliance is a nonprofit that provides help and support to wounded troops and military families. U.S. Bank has partnered with the organization since 2013 to donate 25 homes totaling $5.75 million.
