Cigna has shared four ways companies can help employees maximize their benefits.
Health insurance literacy is low in the workforce. Employers spend an additional $26 for every employee with low health insurance literacy. Additionally, $4.8 billion is wasted annually in the United States due to this lack of understanding about health insurance.
One in four employees say their companies don’t clarify which benefits are available to them, and 64% of employees listed pay and benefits as a top reason for leaving their jobs.
Improving communication about the benefits that are available to employees can help them make better decisions about their health, increase employee satisfaction and help lower organizational costs.
