Eli Lilly recently recognized Ruth Gimeno, Vice President of Diabetes & Metabolic Research at Lilly Research Laboratories, for her accomplishments and achievements.
From a small village in rural Bavaria, Gimeno pursued a Ph.D. in cell biology at MIT to research how to make effective medicines. She became interested in a career in the pharmaceutical industry after spending time at a biotech company, eventually connecting to the pharmaceutical research team at Eli Lilly.
“For me, everything came together at Lilly: a company focused on innovation, with a deep commitment to patients in a field I was passionate about, and colleagues who make coming to work each day a gratifying experience,” Gimeno said.
Witnessing people in her personal life suffering from metabolic diseases has inspired her to search for a solution.
