Inclusivity at American Family and in Our Communities: It’s All About People

At American Family Insurance, our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is unwavering. From our strategic goal to increase the diversity of our workforce, to our inclusive culture, to how we show up in communities, our people fuel our success as we support the success of all people.

Where we’ve been and where we still need to go in our inclusive excellence journey is detailed in the Inclusive Excellence 2020 Report, our first annual report of this type, and includes:

  • A look at the collection of actions, stories and data that reflect how we’re doing on our strategic goal of increasing the racial/ethnic diversity of our workforce by 50 percent by 2024. This is first time we’ve released data on our progress.
  • A deep dive into the critical role our employee-led Business Resource Groups (BRGs) play in helping create an inclusive culture within the company, adding value and impact to the business and strengthening our local communities.
  • The actions our company and leaders took to not only support employees but also create safe psychological space to have important and difficult conversations after the murder of George Floyd and subsequent protests.

Similarly, the company’s Corporate Responsibility 2020 Report provides a detailed look at how we supported our communities, the environment and people over the past year, including the more than $530 million in total COVID – 19 premium relief to customers and $16.5 million total in combined philanthropic giving to support people during a very challenging year for so many.

We encourage you to peruse both reports if you’re interested in learning more about the human stories behind our progress, goals or numbers.
