Northwell Health Walk Raises $1.06 Million to Improve Healthcare

Northwell Health hosted the Northwell Health Walk in May, where more than 4,000 people participated to raise $1.06 million for local hospital programs.

The participants comprised patients, families, community members and employees of the company.

“Every year, thousands of people across the region join the Northwell Health Walk to affirm their belief in Northwell’s commitment to raise health in our communities,” said Brian Lally, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Northwell Health. “It’s extraordinary to see the outpouring of support that grows each and every year.”

Supporters gathered at five locations: Jones Beach, Port Jefferson, Riverhead, Westchester and Staten Island. Funds at each site will support the following local hospitals:

  • The Port Jefferson Walk supports the Fortunato Breast Cancer Center at Mather Hospital
  • The East End/Riverhead Walk will help expand the breast health program and support the development of a mother and baby unit at Peconic Bay Medical Center
  • The Westchester walk will help with the purchase of sensory tools for young patients with autism and education and assistance programs for team members at Northern Westchester Hospital and Phelps Hospital
  • The Staten Island Walk supports the construction of the new Florina Cancer Center at Staten Island University Hospital

The Northwell Health Walk started in 2010 as the “Every Woman Matters Walk.” It has raised over $7 million and supports the company’s Outpacing the Impossible campaign, a $1.4 billion fundraising effort.
