PWC Reports Workers Are Looking for New Jobs as Cost of Living Concerns Persist

PwC is a Fair360 Top 50 Hall of Fame company.

One in four workers is looking for new jobs as cost of living concerns persist, according to PwC’s 2023 Global Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey. The survey outlines the attitudes and behaviors of nearly 54,000 workers in 46 countries and territories.

PwC reports the ‘The Great Resignation’ will continue. Twenty-six percent of employees say they will likely change jobs in the next 12 months, up from 19% in 2022. Of these employees, 44% feel overworked, 38% struggle to pay monthly bills, and 35% are Gen Z.

Also, out of the employees looking to change employers, only 47% said they find their jobs fulfilling and 51% are less likely to say they can truly be themselves at work.

“The global workforce is divided into two — those with valuable skills who are well set to keep learning, and those without. We found that often, those without the skills are less financially secure and less able to access training in the skills of the future,” said Bob Moritz, PwC Global Chair. “In a world where CEOs know they need to transform their businesses to succeed, they need to combine the benefits of technology with a plan to unlock the talents of all workers. It is in no one’s interest for businesses to chase the same group of skilled workers while the rest of society gets left behind.”
