PwC Shares the Importance of Sustainability Reporting for Investors

Following the EU’s new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), PwC shared the importance of sustainability reporting for investors.

The CSRD required companies to make extensive, detailed disclosures about sustainability performance and related strategic implications, impacting about 50,000 companies that are listed in the EU or have operations there.

According to PwC’s 2022 Global Investor Survey, most investors agree that companies should report information on the relevance of sustainability factors to their business and on their sustainability activities.

The report found the following data. Investors stated that for their investment analysis and decision-making,

  • 73% find it very important or important for companies to report the cost to meet sustainability commitments
  • 70% find it very important or important for companies to report the effect of sustainability risks and opportunities on the company’s financial statement assumptions
  • 60% find it very important or important for companies to report the company’s impact on the environment or society
