Southern Company’s Chris Womack Honors the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington

Southern Company ranked No. 24 on the Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list in 2023.

Chris Womack, President and CEO of Southern Company, spoke at Time’s 60th anniversary dinner to commemorate the historic March on Washington.

The March on Washington was held in Washington, D.C., on August 28, 1963, to advocate for African Americans’ civil and economic rights. Martin Luther King, Jr. led the march.

“The privilege of standing alongside Rev. Bernice King and other remarkable visionaries, all committed to preserving the profound legacy of Dr. King’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, is a true honor,” Womack said. “My commitment to Dr. King’s legacy drives me to press onward, advocating for everyone’s perspective to find its rightful place in our world and at Southern Company.”
