The Cigna Group has shared its approach to making gender-affirming care simple and accessible for customers and employees.
According to a report by the Center for American Progress (CAP), nearly half of people who identify as transgender — and 68% of transgender people of color – have experienced mistreatment when seeking care, including care refusal and both verbal and physical abuse.
The Cigna Group’s My Personal Champion team, which works with Cigna Health Plan customers and employees, works to ensure transgender individuals can avoid obstacles. At the same time, they get the services they need.
These services include hormone therapy, speech therapy, mental health care and surgeries. My Personal Champion team also helps individuals find community support groups and supports social transitioning.
