People on the Move: Girish Ganesan, S&P Global’s New Senior Vice President, People

Publicly traded financial conglomerate S&P Global — majority owner of the S&P Dow Jones Indices — has announced Girish Ganesan as the company’s new Senior Vice President, People. Ganesan was previously the Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion and Head of U.S. Talent at TD Bank Group (No. 14 on The Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list in 2021), where he worked for three years.

In a LinkedIn post celebrating a resource group he had participated in as part of his new role with S&P, Ganesan wrote, “I joined S&P four weeks ago. It was clear to me through the recruitment process that we deeply care about #diversity and #inclusion where everyone can thrive and bring their true, whole, human self to work. There is a popular saying that [when] diversity is being invited to the party, inclusion is being asked to dance. The fact that being so new to the organization, I was asked to share my journey is a tangible example of our inclusive values and people-first focus.”

Ganesan also added, “It is simple: when you lead in inclusion, you win collectively as an organization.”

Prior to joining S&P, Ganesan was responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of all diversity and inclusion strategies, tactics and programs for TD. He also led all aspects of the bank’s talent strategy and delivery, including talent acquisition, learning and development, organizational effectiveness, employee experience, talent management and diversity and inclusion.

Before that, Ganesan held a number of senior positions with Manulife. In 2019, he was named one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40 corporate leaders and recognized as a Top Future Leader by HR.com.

Born in New Delhi and educated in Canada before moving to the U.S., he has an honors degree in Political Science and Economics, post-graduate education in Human Resources Management, as well as a certification from Canadian Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL).
