People on the Move: Dalana Brand, Twitter’s New Chief Diversity and People Officer

Dalana Brand has been named Chief People and Diversity Officer at Twitter. In this role, Brand will lead DEI and accessibility initiatives, work with the executive management team and the company’s Board of Directors on strategic initiatives and lead the Global People Team.

To serve the public, Brand said in a statement that Twitter is on a mission to become the most DEI-focused and accessible tech company.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead the company’s global workforce and accelerate the progress we’ve made to create the best, most inclusive people experience for everyone at Twitter,” she said.

Brand joined the company in 2018 and most recently served as its VP of People Experience and Head of Inclusion & Diversity. She is the first Black woman and third Black C-suite executive at Twitter since it went public in 2013.

Her new role will allow her to focus on Twitter’s 2025 Vision for a more “diverse and inclusive future” while expanding the company’s “decentralized work strategy, creating an inclusive environment for employees around the world.” She will also prioritize Twitter’s transparency and accountability in her new role.

Prior to working at Twitter, Brand was VP of Total Rewards for Electronic Arts, Inc. She also worked at Whirlpool Corporation for nine years in various senior leadership positions.
