Global food giant Cargill, Inc., one of the largest privately held corporations in the United States based on revenue, has appointed its first-ever chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer.
Dan Niepow of Twin Cities Business has reported that U.S. Navy vet Greg Jones has been tasked with the role at the Minnetonka, Minnesota-based corporation.
“It’s the first time the agribusiness giant has had a position specifically devoted to diversity,” Niepow said. “As a global company, Cargill has already been diversifying its ranks throughout the years. In late 2020, Cargill joined the likes of Walmart [No. 22 on The DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list in 2021], Nike and more than 30 other companies to launch a new initiative aimed at increasing employment opportunities for Black Americans.”
