People on the Move: Sekou Kaalund, U.S. Bank’s New Executive Vice President and Head of Branch Banking

Sekou Kaalund, Head of Consumer Banking, Northeast Division, at Chase bank, has left the company and will join U.S. Bank (No. 17 on Fair360, formerly DiversityInc’s 2022 Top 50 Companies for Diversity list) as Executive Vice President and Head of Banking later in 2022. 

Kaalund made the announcement on LinkedIn. 

“In just a short time, I have developed strong admiration for the team and leaders that I’ll be working with. I am excited about the impact we’ll have on each other—and in powering the potential of our clients,” Kaalund wrote.

In his role as Head of Consumer Banking at Chase, Kaalund oversaw 1,000 branches and 10,000 employees. Prior to this role, he was the Head of Advancing Black Pathways, a JPMorgan Chase program that helps Black people, families and entrepreneurs achieve continued economic success. Kaalund will make the move following 15 years at Chase. 

Kaalund earned his Bachelor’s from Hampden-Sydney College and a Master’s of Public Policy from Duke University. He serves on the boards of the Public Policy & International Affairs Program (PPIA) and previously served on the board of INROADS’, a non-profit organization that creates pathways to careers for ethnically diverse high school and college students across the country and a philanthropic partner of Fair360, formerly DiversityInc.
